Care
The healthcare professionals who save lives and help survivors rebuild.

Our Story
From survival and recovery to a 3,000+ mile journey across America, Hope One Walk was born from the belief that no burn survivor should ever walk alone.
The Beginning
My name is Corey Halstead, and I survived a devastating vehicle fire that left me with burns over nearly half of my body. In an instant, everything I knew changed.
What followed was a journey through emergency surgeries, intensive care, skin grafts, rehabilitation, and countless months of recovery. There were moments of unimaginable pain, uncertainty, and challenges that tested me in every possible way.

But there was also
hope.
Healing Together
Throughout my recovery, I experienced the extraordinary compassion of burn surgeons, nurses, therapists, first responders, mental health professionals, family, friends, and fellow burn survivors.
They reminded me that healing is never something we do alone. Every act of kindness, every encouraging word, and every person who refused to let me give up helped carry me forward.
As I recovered, I began meeting other burn survivors whose stories were different from mine, yet connected by the same courage, resilience, and determination. I quickly realized that while every burn survivor has a unique journey, we all share the need for hope, connection, understanding, and support.
The healthcare professionals who save lives and help survivors rebuild.
The survivors who continue moving forward through recovery and beyond.
Families, friends, first responders, volunteers, and supporters walking beside survivors.
The reminder that no survivor should have to heal or rebuild alone.
A New Purpose
It inspired me to found Healing Home Group, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting burn survivors through advocacy, community, education, and long-term recovery.
It also inspired a vision that grew into something much larger than myself.

The Journey Ahead
It is a nationwide movement dedicated to raising awareness for burn survivors, honoring the professionals who care for them, and building stronger connections within the burn community.
It is an opportunity to bring together survivors, families, burn centers, healthcare professionals, first responders, nonprofit organizations, and communities across the country through one shared purpose: making sure no burn survivor ever feels alone.
January 4, 2027
Beginning January 4, 2027, I will walk more than 3,000 miles from Santa Monica, California, to New York City.
Along the journey, I will visit burn centers across America, meet with burn survivors and their families, thank the surgeons, nurses, therapists, firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and healthcare teams who dedicate their lives to burn care, and share stories of resilience from communities in every region of the country.

Why Every Step Matters
represents someone whose life has been forever changed by a burn injury.
creates understanding.
inspires hope.
reminds us that healing is stronger when we stand together.

A Mission That Belongs to All of Us
Hope One Walk is powered by Healing Home Group, but its mission belongs to all of us.
Together, we are building a future where burn survivors have greater access to support, stronger connections with one another, and a community that walks beside them long after they leave the hospital.
You are not walking alone. We are with you every step.
The Bigger Story
Finding hope.
Discovering they are not alone.
Whose compassion changes lives.
Who answers the call.
Who chooses to make a difference.
Most importantly, it is about proving that hope has the power to unite people from every background, every community, and every corner of this country.
Because when one survivor finds hope,
